HOW WE DO IT

We provide a website and dedicated phone line through which Norfolk residents can report possible scams. With that information, our staff is able to first, alert the public, and then work with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to put an end to such practices and protect our citizens.

The Norfolk Police Department and the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office provide primary local law enforcement capability. The CPU works with those agencies, plus federal partners including the United States Postal Inspectors, the Social Security Administration, the FBI, the United States Attorneys Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Consumer Protection Unit of the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia.
