The Sheriff's Office has different responsibilities compared to the Norfolk Police Department. We serve our community by running the Norfolk City Jail, courthouse security, and delivering legal papers, like evictions and subpoenas.
The NSO team is committed to providing crime prevention and services for seniors and kids in Norfolk. We are proud to have numerous programs to give inmates second chances, including allowing non-violent inmates to work in the community, and at local businesses.
The Sheriff is dedicated to improving the morale of our deputies, who work hard every day to maintain our city’s jail. Deputies are responsible for the safety and security of nearly 1,000 inmates on a daily basis.
